The Uneven Field

Method

Sources, impartiality, corrections, and no club affiliation.

No named author

There is no byline with a person’s name. The method is what a reader can check instead. These pages are commentary and explanation built on published decisions, rules, accounts and reporting. They are not those documents, and they are not a finding of their own.

Sources

A claim that can be checked is tied to the record it comes from: a rule, a published decision, a filing, or reporting labelled as reporting. A figure from a news story is not treated as a club’s regulatory number. The calculator applies published rules to figures the reader types. It is not the Premier League’s calculation, and not advice.

Impartiality

The pages on the Manchester City case report the published record and do not take a side. The essays argue a view about how the structure distributes permission to spend. That view is an argument, not a finding. Disagreeing with the argument is not a correction. A wrong fact is.

Corrections

The corrections log is the record of a change to a published page: what it said, what it says, and why. It is append-only. Write to [email protected] with the page, the words, and the source.

Affiliation

The Uneven Field is independent. It is not affiliated with the Premier League, the FA, UEFA, the EFL, the Independent Football Regulator, or any club. It has no financial interest in any club, competition or rights holder. Names are used only to identify them. The pages are free. There is no account and no payment.

The notice says what the pages are not: not advice, and not a warrant that they are complete.
